SV ORCINIUS WEB BLOG

Maritime tracking... is a voluntary data input mostly operated by HAMs.  A HAM that wants to participate acquires an AIS receiver and connectes it to their computer which is subsequently connected to www.marinetraffic.com and our position will be updated.  I have a connection to the site sometimes and will try to get that updated also.  If you are really interested in where we are, and I have the time, I will be happy to add you to my automatic update when I go online to get weather from the HF sailmail site.

We use several methods to collect weather information.  One is using GRIB files downloaded through our HF tranceiver through www.sailmail.com .  This is an annual subscription which give us weather locations we select.  Another is using www.bouyweather.com when we have an internet connection and the third is www.ocens.com which is also a subscription to selected weather information.
